Does The Bible Condone Slavery? Surprisingly, NO!

And he that stealeth a man, and selleth him, or if he be found in his hand, he shall surely be put to death.  Exodus 21:16 ASV

If a man be found stealing any of his brethren of the children of Israel, and he deal with him as a slave, or sell him; then that thief shall die: so shalt thou put away the evil from the midst of thee.  Deuteronomy 24:7 ASV

Exodus 3:9 ASV
(9)  And now, behold, the cry of the children of Israel is come unto me: moreover I have seen the oppression wherewith the Egyptians oppress them.

Service or being a servant in Israel was voluntary whether bought or not. Stealing anyone to sell carries the death penalty for the thief.

(39)  And if thy brother be waxed poor with thee, and sell himself unto thee; thou shalt not make him to serve as a bondservant.
(40)  As a hired servant, and as a sojourner, he shall be with thee; he shall serve with thee unto the year of jubilee:
(41)  then shall he go out from thee, he and his children with him, and shall return unto his own family, and unto the possession of his fathers shall he return.

Genesis 9:6 ASV
(6)  Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.

In the Holy Scriptures, the word for slavery does not exist but it is any oppressive work whether it is for free or whether it is paid. Exodus 3:9, 22:21, 23:9, Deuteronomy 24:14.

Since the creation of all things by MESSIAH YHWH YEHOSHUA, man has one enemy: Satan

Therefore, anyone who is bent on slaving or oppressing or shedding the blood of anyone under any pretense against the command of loving one another is demon possessed, whether that person claims to be a believer or not.
